Cupping

Healing Modalities

Like acupuncture, cupping therapy has been in use for thousands of years. A partial vacuum is created in the cups, either by heat or suction, and then placed on the skin. This pulls up the underlying tissues causing blood to flow to that area, stimulating healing.

Cupping can help to release muscle tension and adhesions, causing tissues to release toxins and activating the lymphatic system. It is an excellent form of deep tissue massage and can be easily incorporated into your acupuncture session.

Gua Sha is an ancient Chinese intervention that involves repeated pressed strokes over lubricated skin with a smooth-edged instrument. Gua Sha can boost circulation, increase blood flow, break up scar tissue, and alleviate chronic pain.

An integral part of Chinese medicine for thousands of years, moxibustion is used frequently for conditions ranging from bronchial asthma to arthritis to menstrual pain. In moxibustion, the leaves of the Chinese herb mugwort or Ai Ye (Artemesiae Vulgaris) are dried and then burned.

The dried burning leaves then heat specially chosen acupuncture points from a short distance, either via a cigar-like “moxa stick” or compressed leaves applied to the end of an acupuncture needle. They may also be in the form of a small cone placed directly on the skin, then removed before the heat becomes uncomfortable. We use moxibustion to stimulate the body’s natural healing abilities, “strengthen blood,” and maintain optimum health.

Tui Na (pronounced “twee naw”) is an ancient healing art of Chinese medicine that literally means “push and grasp.” This form of massage and bodywork is used for more than just pleasure and relaxation; it is a Chinese medical treatment used to address specific patterns of disharmony.

White Magnolia uses Tui Na for many of the same reasons and according to the same principles as acupuncture. It is frequently used in the treatment of superficial trauma and injury and a wide variety of musculoskeletal problems. In addition, it can also release blocked emotional energy and help to restore and maintain emotional balance. Tui Na is another healing modality easily integrated into your treatment plan.

Chinese herbal medicine is a sophisticated medical system dating back thousands of years. Herbs are used to treat the full range of human ailments, from common colds and gynecological problems to autoimmune and degenerative diseases. Chinese herbal medicine is especially good at promoting the body’s ability to heal and recuperate.

White Magnolia prescribes formulas only from suppliers who maintain strict control over the quality and accuracy of the herbal ingredients in their products. Companies such as Blue Poppy, KPC, Spring Wind, Evergreen and more are known to independently test for pesticides, fungus, mold spores, heavy metals, and other contaminants to ensure levels fall well below minimum requirements.
