Lunar New Year 2024

White Magnolia Acupuncture & Tai Chi & Teance Fine Teas proudly present West Berkeley’s 2nd annual Lunar New Year celebration!

We are bringing in the Lunar New Year with performances, demonstrations & free classes. 

11:00-11:20: Opening celebration – Lion Dance performance for the blessing by Kei Lun Martial Arts, founded in 1994. Kei Lun Martial Arts is dedicated to the promotion and preservation of the cultural legacies of the lion dance, dragon dance, and martial arts.

12:00-12:15: Tai Chi Demonstration by White Magnolia.

12:15-1:00: Tai Chi free introductory classes by White Magnolia.

1:00-2:00: Free Stress-Reduction Acupuncture with John Luna-Sparks LAc. Space is limited, call clinic to reserve your space, 510-570-8195!

11:30-4:00: Art pop-up ~ Risograph prints and zines celebrating Asian heritage by local printmaker and artist Christina Hu. IG: @christina.blob

11:30-4:00: Mt.Kakigori pop-up ~  Japanese style shaved ice using premium clear ice for a soft and fluffy texture, with flavors inspired by California’s diverse culture and produce. Flavors at the event will be LNY themed! IG: @mt.kakigori_ FB: @mt.kakigori_

12:00-4:00: DIY-Writing Chinese Calligraphy – Spring Couplets 春聯 “Chūnlián”, a New Year’s decoration that expr esses happiness and hopeful thoughts for the coming year.

12:00-4:00: Teance’s complimentary Lunar New Year Red teas (Hong Cha) will be served after the Lion Dance performance.

Spring Wellness Event 2024

Spring is picking up as the days get longer and sunnier. How is your body feeling as we transition out from this cold and stormy winter season into spring?

11:00am-12:00pm Keeping in Harmony with the Spring Season: Presenters – John Luna-Sparks LAc. of White Magnolia Acupuncture & Tai Chi & Katie Tao of Teance.

Would you like to feel:

  • More balanced, physically and emotionally?
  • Empowered to take charge of your health?
  • In harmony with your body?

You’ll learn:

  • How to improve your mood, balance hormones, reduce pain, and increase vitality by staying in harmony with the spring season.
  • A simple self-care routine rooted in the 5 Branches of Chinese Medicine, incorporating meditation, Chi Kung, self-massage, and tasty seasonal food (samples provided!)
  • What teas are in alignment with the spring season. Teas will be served by Teance Fine Teas.

12:15-1:15pm Nourish and Strengthen Your Gut Microbiome with Fermented Foods: Guest speaker Karen Wang Diggs | Nutritionist + Chef

Learn why adding fermented foods to your diet can help to improve your digestion and immunity.
Karen will also show you how easy it is to make your own fermented vegetables and beverages, and you’ll get to try some samples.
  • Po Cai (Chinese-style sauerkraut with Jujube & Spring herbs)
  • Cucumber and Sesame Salad with Fermented Dressing
  • Water Kefir with Schizandra berries & Burdock

Bring your lunch or grab lunch at a nearby spot such as Berkeley Bowl, Cali Alley, Mint Leaf, Standard Fare! Bring back to enjoy in our courtyard with tea.

Day of Giving Back

Teance Fine Teas and White Magnolia Acupuncture and Tai Chi present our “Day of Giving Back Event” Saturday, Dec 2, 2023, 2-5pm. 
Hospitality teas, stress-reduction acupuncture, holiday choir & live jazz!
Please join us to bring a nonperishable item to be donated to the Berkeley Food Bank!

Day of The Dead 2023

Day of the Dead flyerCome join us to remember our loved ones. Anyone is welcome to contribute to our ofrenda with a picture or a small object in remembrance of a loved one. Tea and treats will be available starting at 6:30pm. No registration is required.
