Join us for a day filled with community spirit and festive activities. Here’s what you can look forward to:

Event Highlights

  • Teance Fine Teas
    Enjoy a hospitality cup of tea as you explore the event!
  • 1:00 – 1:30 PM: Jingle Jamboree Music
    Delight in a festive holiday concert by the children’s choir, directed by Jeffrey Luna-Sparks.
  • 1:30 – 2:00 PM: Tai Chi Demonstration
    Experience the art of Tai Chi with a live demonstration.
  • 2:30 – 4:30 PM: Stress-Reduction Acupuncture
    John Luna-Sparks will be offering free acupuncture to help reduce stress. Limited spots available. Call 510-570-8195 to reserve your slot.
  • 2:30 – 4:30 PM: Live Jazz
    Enjoy live jazz performed by the “Cyril Grimsich & Simon Keyser-Petty Duo”

Fall Wellness Event

Would you like to:

  • Feel more in charge of your body?
  • Have more energy during the day?
  • Improve your gut health?

Let’s get our systems ready for the fall season with the upcoming shorter days and change in weather. It is the ideal time to nourish the lungs and large intestine to stay healthier in the fall.

11:00-11:30am Keeping in Harmony with the Fall Season: Presenters – John Luna-Sparks LAc. of White Magnolia Acupuncture & Tai Chi & Katie Tao of Teance.

You’ll learn:

  • how to improve your mood, balance hormones, reduce pain, and increase vitality by staying in harmony with the fall season.
  • a simple self-care routine rooted in the 5 Branches of Chinese Medicine, incorporating stillness, Chi Kung, self-massage, and tasty seasonal food (samples provided!)

11:30-12:00pm Nourish and Strengthen Your Gut Microbiome with Fermented Foods: Guest speaker Karen Wang Diggs | Nutritionist + Chef

You’ll learn:

  • why adding fermented foods to your diet can help to improve your digestion and immunity. Karen will also show you how easy it is to make your own fermented vegetables and beverages, and you’ll get to try some samples.

12-12:30pm Introductory Tai Chi class by White Magnolia Acupuncture & Tai Chi

12:30-1:00pm The best teas to drink in the fall season. Teas will be served by Teance Fine Teas.

Fee: $15. This covers the activities from 11am-1pm with the seating. Space is limited, so please sign up to reserve your space!

Then, stay for more tea and jazz…

1:00-2:30pm Lunch and Tea Break
Bring your lunch or grab lunch at a nearby spot such as Berkeley Bowl, Cali Alley, Mint Leaf or Standard Fare! Bring back to enjoy in our courtyard with tea.

2:30-4:30pm Live Jazz by Cyril Grimsich Trio (Free Admission)
Live outdoor music to nourish our hearts (and lungs!) on this Fall Wellness Day!

Tai Chi Progression Ceremony

Saturday, Sept 28, 9:30-noon, at White Magnolia Acupuncture and Tai Chi
 
Our Progression Ceremony is a semi-annual White Magnolia gathering where we celebrate students’ progress in deepening their Tai Chi forms. These events are open to the public.
 
The event starts at 9:30 am with a 30 minute version of our Beginner Foundations class open to all. If you are new to White Magnolia, you will need to sign a waiver in advance, so please contact us at 510-570-8195 to register.  
 
At 10:00 am, the public is welcome to watch as we demonstrate the 8 Pieces of Silk Brocade Chi Kung sequence. Then, those students whose progression is being confirmed will demonstrate their forms.
 
Refreshments (potluck) will follow and please bring a dish to share.
